changes to block in scrapbook not updating throughout site

Hi there,
I have put a number of blocks in my global scrapbook that I use on multiple page types. I went into one - which contains a set of links - and updated it through the scrapbook area in the dashboard. The blocks were originally created as "aliases" if that matters.

Just making the update in the scrapbook area does not seem to be updating the block throughout the site (sadly :(). I've cleared my browser cache and the c5 cache, tried removing pretty urls... and I'm still seeing the old content.

Seems I have to re-place the block in each page type and re-set it on child pages to get the changes to show.

Is there something I'm missing here? Seems if a block is in the scrap book and you update it there it should then update every where.

I would much appreciate advice. Thanks!

Hi,

yes, for global blocks use the page defaults feature at dashboard->pages&themes->page types->defaults.

Set them up to child pages if necessary like described at

(hm i can't find it in the docs atm)

yep - that is exactly what I've done. So now I'm looking for some help to troubleshoot why the scrapbook blocks are not updating throughout the site unless I take them out and put them back in on on each of the default page types.

I wonder if it could be an install issue...

As long as you are not using your users personal scrapbook you can choose "Alias original to Scrapbook" and then when you update any instance of the block, either in your scrapbook or on your site somewhere, than it will update all instances of that block.

When you are editing does this message show up? (see attached image)

It does indeed, ukao. But only when I edit the block on a default page type. That message does not show when I edit the block in the Scrapbook area on the dashboard.

When I do make the change to the block on a page default it only updates the block on pages of that type.

Is there a way to have the changes to the global block update across all the page types I have that block on?

Thanks again for your help!

doh! I just found this post(http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/customizing_c5/footer-block1#35615/) about adding the block code to the hard code of the page type and it seems to work. Sorry! for some reason my searches did not turn it up earlier.

Thanks again for your help.
