Close my account & your contact form is broken

Dear concrete5,

I wish to close & delete my account on this site, but there is no visible means to do this.

Also the contact form is broken - it is asking me to enter a captcha code for a non-existent captcha image.

Please can you enlighten me as to how I can delete my account.

Regarding the new site - I have only been on 5 minutes, but it has already irritated me beyond repair:

1. There are different routes into this forum, one with no visible means of starting a discussion.
2. The Ajax loading of forum posts knocks the footer down every time it loads more posts - quite annoying if you are trying to read said footer.
3. I can't delete my account.
4. You are sending me "badges" for having an idle account for a year.
5. I vaguely remember you made me sign up for said account just to download contributions.

Cheers.

1. There are different routes into this forum, one with no visible means of starting a discussion.

On every forum landing there is a "start new discussion button" and on every topic landing there is a reply to post button.

2. The Ajax loading of forum posts knocks the footer down every time it loads more posts - quite annoying if you are trying to read said footer.

The footer is the same on every page so you could read it anywhere else besides a main forum landing, which I for one am glad that it auto loads as the alternatives of pagination and scrolling or worse is way to 2004.

3. I can't delete my account.

With good reason, paid add-ons are attached to the accounts and having a delete account button could be disastrous for the person that accidently presses it, and than accidently presses confirm deletion (it happens) and than has to post that they need their account back. Well not to disastrous as the c5 staff will restore an account very quickly but still quite a hassle for all parties involved.

To delete an account you can post in the forum and staff will delete it. So we will all be missing you very shortly (╯︵╰,)

4. You are sending me "badges" for having an idle account for a year.

Some badges are auto rewarded, happy one year anniversary. ¸¸♬·¯·♩¸

5. I vaguely remember you made me sign up for said account just to download contributions.

I cant see anyone forcing you to make an account but if you were downloading packages and werent sure how to press the manual download link or were purchasing add-ons than I can see you signing up. Unless someone did this,,, (•̪̀●́)=o/̵͇̿̿/'̿̿ ̿ ̿̿ ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶

Go to main menu: Community->Forums. Click Chit-Chat or any other filter link. No "Start Discussion" button, etc. I have to click on a post in the forum to get into that particular category - not very apparent to an old skool forum user...

I did exactly that and the start new discussion button is still there, screenshot attached. To access the screenshot click on the "attachments" link next to reply. It is not that obvious as it is close to the bottom so on some monitors I could see it appearing as if it was not there.

Okay so I found the button - eventually, but that's not my fault is it ;) It's in different places depending on where you are in the forum.

"...scrolling is way 2004"
Yes, but moving the scroll thumb from under my mouse is taking control away from the user (this is what happens with the ajax-y loading of forum posts).

Scrolling may be irritating, pagination may be irritating and a growing page may be irritating, but moving controls from under the user's mouse is unforgivable if we are discussing UX. Just because something is old-fashioned does not mean it needs re-inventing. We still have the wheel, that works. Ajax loading of pages is nice, but it should maybe have considered that people might want to read the footer - in this case, an overflowing div may be better.

Overflowing divs are great until you pop it on your iphone3 or lesser functioning mobile. Sadly most people still have older mobiles and tablets where overflowing divs are not supported. Wouldn't want to leave them with a non functioning forum :(

With you leaving we wont get to have these chats .... double sad :( :(
