Complicated Member Registration Set up - Is it possible?

Hi. I'm currently developing a website for a client who wants to use C5 as a dating website. She wants members to fill in a long survey before they register.

At first we had discussed a basic form which she would then create a member profile manually based on the results of. This however will be a lot of work so she wants the form to create the user. Is there any way of getting the information from this form:http://www.passionforcreative.com/client-area/testcms/index.php/reg...

to create the user account? Any help appreciated as the client only just changed her mind about the system yesterday & it's threatening to be a deal breaker on the whole job.

iirc, you just need to add the questions as custom user attributes. When you create the questions, there are 2 options that will be of use:
1) Show on Registration Form.
2) Require on Registration Form.

Then yuou just need to display the standard user registration form. All your custom form fields will be there, and once complete it will create the user for you.

Hope that helps,

Jon

Thanx JBX, I reckon that will sort me right out. On a similar note, I've installed the eCommerce block & the client doesn't want her clients/members to have to fill out their Billing details every time. If I set the Billing Attributes as Show on Reg will they populate automagically when a member purchases once they are signed in?

Yes, it will.

I have tested it in my ecommerce add-on

We have created a user registration block that could be extended to do what you are looking for. This way the registration form could be easily added to any page on the site.

However I think Jon's suggestion would be alot easier

Sorry to re-open this question but this site has now gone live & I've used the suggestions above to get the form working as client wanted.

My issue is that up until this weekend the Members page was working perfectly, a full list of the coupel hundred site members. The client changed a couple of the member attributes to be visible on the search and the member page is now blank. The default search bar is even gone.

Has anyone seen this before or can you think of why it may have happened?

Did you find a fix for this? Did reverting the settings help?

Hi gewald,

I think I just went into a fresh download of that version of C5 and extracted the single pages and re-uploaded them. Then deleted the members page that was in the sitemap & created a new one. I might have had to play with a few settings on the page to get the search function working again but I think that's how I sorted it.

Sorry I can't be of more help to you, this was over a year ago & there were a lot of problems on this site so trying to remember the exact fix on one is a bit of a struggle.
