Composer Date Posted

What does the Date Posted Section do for the Core Composer Feature? I have set the date posted for a future date and it still shows in the navigation for the admin and for logged in users.

I guess I was expecting this to only be visible after the date and time selected. Is is possible I am doing something wrong?
