Concrete5 in the media

The first time I saw something about c5 in my rss reader which hasn't been created by a c5 itself..

http://entwickler.com/itr/news/psecom,id,49927,nodeid,82.html...

For those who don't speak German, two things they didn't like:

- They don't like the "do it your self" approach. They are sceptical about the addon if even the roadmap relies on not existing 3rd developers

- There's no currency in the marketplace which is why they used the term "monetary unit" which has a bad touch in this context as well

i agree with the second statement but i dont really understand what the first statement means...

you mean currency conversion?

no, they are just looking for a dollar sign. Right now it's not even clear what the currency is...

You and I know that you're charging in dollars but new users not. Could be GBP was well..

About the first statement - they just don't like the fact that the roadmap relies on 3rd party developers. It looks to them like the development has partially stopped and now they want some customers to pay for the future development. A part I do understand, but also something which doesn't look very professional if you don't have as much information about c5 as I do.

there's an option in settings to change the currency symbol, you can sell in "$" or "Peanuts" or whatever.

Am I missing something?

You either miss something or I'm not able to explain myself very well (:

Go to this page:

6th slide

if we're talking about the app.

The reason that there are no dollar signs in the marketplace was legal. With the ability to maintain a balance on the site you have to be careful about things like calling that page in your profile your "bank" and whatnot. given where we are in reality, we can probably put dollar signs on these marketplace pages without getting in trouble..

there's not currency which means the user doesn't not even know what he has to pay for the eCommerce addon.

I'm not talking about the addon itself.

what i haven't point out is that all addons at the marketplace go through the core developers eyes, before they are published.
Should be mentioned.

95.00 $ or potatoes ;)

yeah that makes more sense..

that can be changed. in the early days we saw this more like iStockPhoto where you have "credits" but they don't really map to dollars.

I still like that for a few reasons but I get that with where we are it may not make sense and certainly /some/ unit would be good.. we'll update that with this marketplace submission process tony's working on.
