Congrats on nailing upgrade procedure

I hadn't upgraded my commercial site since 5.1.1. Logged into the back-end today for the first time in a while and had the message "the latest version is 5.3.1.1" - note, part of the reason I never upgraded to 5.2.x was this message disappeared for some time in those versions.

Anyway, thought 5.1.1 -> 5.3.1.1 was probably a pretty big jump, but decided to backup my DB and htdocs anyway and just give it a shot.

Worked like a friggin' charm. I still can't believe it. I tried updating e107 once, and I still have a headache years later from the attempt.

So, well done on sticking to a concrete updating procedure. This one is solid as a rock. Don't go changing it.

Ya see ya whiners??!?! It /does/ work.. stop runing citrix or VMS or whatever the h*ll goofy systems you are and on and do what THIS guy does.. <chuckles>

seriously, thanks for speaking up man - upgrade is a beast and we always work hard trying to make it work for everyone and it's always depressing because one typically only ever hears about the edge case problems, not the multi-version jump successes...

thx, you put a smile on my face.

Thanks for mentioning this....we do try and test on older versions but hopefully we've built a framework for upgrading that, as long as we keep the incremental upgrades working, should ensure the entire "just works."
