Considering Calendar but have questions

It seems as if the Calendar add-on has had a rocky start. I'm considering it but wish answers to the following:
1. Is there a demo version or demo site where I can try the user interface?
2. The documentation says that I must add a new page type rather than simply adding the Calendar functionality to a block on an existing page on my site. I'm not sure how to do this and and need to be directed to the instructions.
3. Can I add a calendar entry that links to an already existing page, or does adding an event always generate a new page?
4. What is your "return policy" if I purchase the calendar add-on but don't like it?
