Date Navigation problem?

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hello, I've updataded my C5 website and noticed that the date navigation block has a problem.
When I choose the option "beneath another page" the link to choose this other page does not appear...
Do you have this problem?

nope, but try reinstalling the block.

I removed the block from the add functionality section... but I'm not able to reinstall it! I don't find the install block...
How can I solve this?

Unfortunately it is not straightforward to re-install system blocks (I think 12345j may have accidentally thought this was a block from the marketplace).
Here's how you can do it, though:
Copy the "date_nav" folder from YOURSITE/concrete/blocks/ into YOURSITE/blocks (so you're copying the "date_nav" folder from the concrete blocks folder to your site's blocks folder -- 1 level up). Now it should appear in the dashboard "Add Functionality" list again.

Not sure why you were having that problem with the "beneath another page" option though.

the date nav isn't one of the default blocks, is it?

Tony -- where have you been?!
The date nav is included in 5.4.1 as part of the blogging functionality (so is your next_previous block, with some upgrades).

ha, thanks for the update man. haven't been paying to much attention to concrete related stuff the past couple of months. good to hear that's included in the core now.

Thank you jordanlev...
The block is re-installed... but the beneath another page function doesn't work... the link to choose the page doesn't appear...

Can you try this with the Page List block -- choose the "Show Pages Beneath" option and see if it works from there. If so, then this is an issue with the date nav block, but if not, then there's some deeper underlying issue going on.
Also, what happens when you click the link -- does the browser look like it's trying to load something but it just never loads, or does nothing at all happen when you click (like it's not even a link or not even trying to go anywhere)?

The Page List block works correctly...

In the date-nav, nothing at all happen. When I choose beneath another page from the menulist, i just select it and nothing...

Holy cow -- you're right! I just tried it out and that functionality is completely missing. There's not even anything in the code to handle it!!

This is definitely a bug. I went ahead and submitted it:

I guess you're the first person who ever tried that :)

Hahaha... I don't know... Maybe the first person to report it.. :)

Thank you very much! :)
I voted your bug submint...
Now we only have to wait (hope not so much) to get the fix...
