Deactivating Accounts?

Hi Everyone,
Sadly one of the members of my websites has passed away this week.
If I deactivate his account, will his posts disappear? (I don't want that) and would it ensure that his email address doesn't receive emails from the site (such as newsletters etc). I wouldn't want his wife to be bothered by such things.
