Default Gateway Problems

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get CoreCommerce working thru the Default Gateway & get this error message:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getLineItemName() on a non-object in D:\hshome\southsid\southsidescooters.com\packages\core_commerce\elements\cart_item_list.php on line 81

Can anyone shed some light as to how to fix this?

The site is running on a windows server if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

Did you by any chance install eCommerce, uninstall it, and then reinstall it? I believe this is an error that occurs when that happens.

if that's the case, there are specific uninstall instructions on the eCommerce add-on's home page that might be useful.

no fresh install. should i try uninstall & then reinstall. Will all the products I've entered be lost then?

Hmm - if you haven't done that then no, I wouldn't do uninstall/reinstall, especially if it's going to wipe out real content.

Have you removed any particular order attributes, like discount, shipping & handling and tax?

Was this issue ever resolved... especially with Andrew replying to your post?

It's a while back but I think we ended up changing hosting company due to other issues and it seemed to fix itself. This site was concrete 5.4 and a really early version of ecommerce. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm simply curious about the c5 ecommerce add-on and if it's something that people are using regularly, or if it's something to stay away from.

I design and build websites, however I'm a non-developer... I can't code PHP on my own. This leaves me at the mercy of using add-ons which are hopefully 'solid' and work properly. I've never implemented ecommerce for any website yet and don't want to go down a path that is problematic.

Do you still use the c5 ecommerce addon, or do you have an alternate ecommerce solution & payment gateway for your newer c5 sites?

Hi,

I was in the same situation 2 years ago when I started using C5 and since then have built over 50 sites & started selling my themes in the Marketplace. Concrete5 does all the really complicated, time consuming bits and they just work.

The last five ecommerce sites I built all use concrete5 to run. It's a really flexible system and apart from being easy to get your head around, it's easy to train your client in on how to use it, which saves on a lot of support calls & emails.

My advice would be to use a good hosting provider because C5 can be a quite heavy and the ecommerce add-on can add to this. I've used Full Flavour Media in the past. They are C5 developers as well as hosting providers and have set up special hosting plans for this which are optimised to run C5. Jesse there couldn't be more helpful:http://www.concrete5.org/profile/-/view/8926/...

Get your hands on Zone based shipping:http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/zone-based-shipping/... When this Addon came out it made things so much easier.

I'd have no hesitations telling you this is my Go-To for ecommerce websites.

We've decided to no longer use the core team's ecommerce package at my day job for a variety of reasons, the biggest was seeing how data could be very easily lost from orders when importing / exporting or just adding/deleting attributes.

Sadly, we haven't found anything to replace it with, but I don't think it's all that solid of a platform. It's been nearly a year since we last looked at it, so maybe things have changed, but the problems were pretty fundamental to the architecture, which is the c5 attribute architecture, so I don't see how they could have easily been resolved.

Thanks to ALL of you for the responses,

As a non-developer (non-php guy) it's really difficult to know what direction to go. If I use any add-on, especially something to do with e-commerce, I would hope that it would be solid... especially if it is in the c5 Marketplace... and in this case, an add-on by c5 themselves.

As I said, it's difficult for me to discern. If an add-on such as c5's e-commerce solution is solid/stable, I would expect to see less of a discrepancy between opinions on it.

If you are no longer using the c5 add-on, do you mind mentioning what you have found to be a good alternative?

We haven't found one. I mentioned that in my first reply. We don't do much ecommerce, so it hasn't been much of an issue.

Sorry... you are correct. I forgot you mentioned it.

You could quite easily integrate 'ecwid'.

Thank You,
I'll take a look. As I'm a non-php guy, is this solution something I could implement on my own?

Go here:http://www.ecwid.com/getting-started.html... and watch the video, then look around the site.

You can play with it for free to start with.

Good luck
