Defaults editing
Permalink
I am having a problem with editing page defaults. It seems only the super user can edit them but not the users in the administrator group. Is there something I am missing or could this be a bug?
Any chance this will change?
We have scenarios where multiple users and developers will be accessing a site and need to get into the page defaults.
I'd love to be able to grant anyone in the admin group access to this area.
Thanks!

I see both sides of this Frz. Could we perhaps have a setting by the super user to allow all admins defaults access? That way for those that want that extra added security could still maintain it.

I second what ChadStrat said. Seems like something logical to have in the default permissions mode.
Access to setting page defaults is now an advanced privilege in 5.4. Go to dashboard->Sitewide Settings->Access and click the link under "Other Permissions" to turn it on for a group. You might need to make other accommodations, as well (e.g., give them access to Pages and Themes->Page Types in the dashboard).
Good Call
Wrote that in my notes.

we do this for permission reasons. Basically once you're in defaults, you can do anything. you can change stuff you may not have access to, even if you are in the administrator group (which really is just a group like anything else).
If you want to let your clients make changes across the site, we suggest using the scrapbook stuff in the dashboard, and then place those blocks in defaults. You can give them access to the scrapbooks to make content changes, and not the other stuff that getting into page defaults would allow.
