I have been going back and forth with a forum member. Here is the thread:

Antrenova says he installed C5 5.7.3.1 and the installation worked. For whatever reason, he deleted all files and "dumped" all the entries from the database. When he tried to install again, it didn't work.

I suggested that he try with a fresh database, but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to be an option, or he is prohibited from creating one.

Can anyone with more knowledge than I (probably 99.9% of you) tell me - is it important to always start with a fresh database (not a "cleaned" one) before installation, and why?

Thanks for any assistance - antrenova is really frustrated! And I can't seem to help...
