Drop down menu that saves selection

Hi Guys
Quick question...
Is there a way in C5, or a block, that I can place on a page that a user can select the status of a project from a dropdown and it will automatically save what they have selected and display this on the page?
In other words, if they come back to that page later the status they selected will still be active until they decide to change again.
