E-Commerce Or No E-Commerce?

I want to make a site where people can buy the photos that I take and use them as wallpapers on their computers. I need to know, first of all, how to watermark them so that they can't be stolen. Secondly, I need to know if I need the E-Commerce Package on my site to be able to do this.

Another thing I'd like to know is if I need the E-Commerce Package with the PayPal Digital Delivery.

What is the space usage on both freebie sites and with paid sites? I can't find that information anywhere.

_____________

About the site Kim's Crafty Crafts, which I made here, on the freebie site for now, I was wondering if I can change that at any time to be a paid hosted site here, and if so, how? The same with the the above questions, can it be a freebie site, changed to a paid hosted site after we start selling items?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Kim

Yep you can do this with the ecommerce addon.

There are two ways. Purchase the digital delivery addon that enables the ecom addon to send a download link or you can use advanced permissions and make a members area (So you wouldnt need to purchase the digital delivery addon)...

For adding a water mark there are several ways to this.

For example you could purchase a watermark script that you host like:http://codecanyon.net/item/image-watermarker-script/50876...

As for the hosting space usage:http://www.concrete5.org/services/hosting... (disk space)

Not really sure about the trial.

As for upgrading to paid. I thought there was a dashboard tab regarding this. If not PM franz or andrew.

Hope that helps.

What we are wanting to know though, is if we "have to have" e-commerce to do this for either one of the sites, or can we just use the PayPal Digital Delivery?

It depends. I like the PayPal digital delivery addon its cheap and it works but if your looking for a shopping cart and the works than the e-commerce addon is for you.

Image: Buy it Now or Add it to cart.

Your choice. Both are wicked addons and both will do the job.

What we want to do is make it simple. When they choose a photo that they want, they can purchase it and get a LINK for the full size photo.

When using the PP program, how does the linking part of it work? Do we have to put the photos on the site here, or are they left on our computers.

Also, the TC Photo add-on, is this something that we would be interested in having up front for the photo site? Or would it be something that we should consider in the near future?

We have lots of photos to put up.

Well.

I probably just use the PayPal Digital Delivery Addon.

That way there is no further protection as it is a random url that is generated and its quite secure!

So.

You would want by creating your site and then adding your watermark images to the actual page/gallery on the page. The full images would be connected to the PayPal Digital Delivery Addon.

Basically you would have two sets the watermarked ones and the non-watermarked ones.

You might want to check out some hosting for c5.

It could be worth it...

I personally use hostgator. Support is amazing, they have cpanel, and also they support c5!

(Thats my affiliate link by the way. If you chose to go with them.)

Also if you need further questions answered just PM me.

Cheers,

Thomas

Hi Kim,
My tuppence worth!

Paypal does NOT do digital delivery, try using softseller.com.

For watermark just sign your images with maybe your logo or unique background.

Proper Hosting in the UK can be a cheap as £3.65 a month (.12p a day). this will include unlimited space, bandwidth, email accounts, databases, etc!

If you need more help let me know.

cheers
