Email Obfuscation add-ons and search engines

As I understand it, these add-ons make email addresses in content blocks unintelligible to Spambots, so it occurred to me, does it do the same to search engine bots and other text in the same content block and presumably this could this affect your search engine ranking, if the bots/spiders can't see text content?

Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this?

They just change scramble the email address all the other text is unchanged.
