File manager flipped uploaded photos

Some of my uploaded images get automatically flipped by file manager 90o counter clock
Both in single file upload or multiple file upload or importing from incoming folder.
This is very distracting as I try to make some image gallery for a client who has lot's of images

This is more likely that they started out rotated, but what you were viewing them on before uploading un-rotated them just for viewing, but without actually fixing the rotation of the image.
I actually thought about that
Tried both in Linux and windows, various viewers
Same result
My final "solution" was no reduce the size of the images by half to about 800 wide and the problem was over
So it seems like it only happened with larger photos

Oversized graphics have a large impact on site performance.
In Photoshop/Fireworks, I size all graphics to the precise dimensions that will be used in the site, and also use a compression level that doesn't visibly affect the image value.
It's easy for large images to add hundreds of kilobytes to a page download.
So, your current process will have other benefits.

Yes, your right ... :)
anyhow, it is still funny that it independently flipped my images

As you suggest, if it was a big graphics file causing the online image software in c5 to take an easy way out, then in it wouldn't have rotated.
I suspect your resizing caused a new file to be saved at the right orientation inside the file.
I often find with desktop image management software that when I think I have rotated an image, all that has happened is that a note is set somewhere in a database to rotate it for display, rather than re-write the whole image file at 90-degree rotation. Then I try and use it somewhere else and it comes out sideways.
It happened last week when I was uploading to concrete5.org, and that was a 640 x 480 image.
By loading the image into photoshop and saving it, it got saved in the new orientation and everything was fine when I next uploaded. Its not a concrete5 thing. It happens all over the place when I take photographs out of image management software.

Thanks !
I uploaded a lot of images downloaded from Google Drive. In Preview on my Mac, they all looked correct but, when uploaded to C5, many were rotated. When I opened the images in Adobe Fireworks on my Mac I saw that many were rotated. I fixed the orientation, saved the files and no more problem.
I had no idea this could happen and I'm a web developer!!! Definitely not a concrete5 issue.

how did you fix the orientation?
