file manager wireframes

Hey gang,

As mentioned in several places, we're working pretty hard on an improved file manager and ecommerce stuff right now.

I thought you all might want to take a glance over the plans for the file manager. The attached wireframes outline where we're heading - it may not all be there with the first rev, but the underlying infrastructure will be...

thoughts?

Hey Franz this definitely looks nice.

I haven't seen anything about folders in that pdf? All the feedback I get about the file manager is:
- How can I replace a file?
- How can I create a folder?

replace should be in there somewhere at a specific file level.. if its not, thats a documentation issues - its on our radar.

we ended up choosing labels over folders. life is not a simple hierarchy and we wanted site owners using the files to manage the site, not spending their time managing files in a directory.

it should end up being a simple experience for site owners, possibly a little uncomfortable not to just see a tree to begin with, but hey - at least they wont end up with one huge MyDocuments directory later. ;)

You can fake folders on the ui side of things.

I completely understand where you are going for doing label.

But this is just a thought....

The new system has the file history and permission.

And IF there is folder system....

So what I came up in my mind were.... Subversion....Web site ....

Hmmmmm

I'm not in love with everything but I certainly see where you're trying to move away from the 'standard' file manager.

To me the basic user is going to be more familiar with the explorer style manager (i.e. folders) however, I'm open to train them differently if it's just as easy to manage their site files.

Hello,
Would you have an idea of the release date?
Because I'm working on a new website which is due out in June.
Thanks!
