Fireside chat before SXSW - concrete5.org is going down for maintenance today!

So I promised you guys last week in this post..
http://www.concrete5.org/index.php?cID=34492...
...that I'd try to give you all a heads up as to what was going on more periodically.
Well a LOT is going on in the next 9 days before SXSW. We're trying to get 5.4 out the door at least as a Release Candidate before SXSW because there's so much goodness in it, that's what we'll be demoing. Demoing 5.4 and then only giving interested parties 5.3.3.1 seems like a bad idea. We also think the new Documentation/Help UI and content we've been working on is going to be so much better than what we have today that it will really change how people see us.
Due to the changes to connecting to the marketplace we're making in 5.4, we basically need concrete5.org to be running 5.4 /before/ we can even start to release 5.4 or test it in a truly live way.
So this afternoon we'll be pulling concrete5.org down for a bit to perform an upgrade on it. You'll see some new features when it comes back up, but some of them may not really make a lot of sense until things mature through the rest of this week and into next.
Our hope is to have 5.4RC1 ready for the beta team to beat on this weekend, giving us a few days before we jump on a plane next week to fix any serious issues and take a deep breath.
We don't expect concrete5.org to be down for long, but just a heads up - if you were planning on buying some add-on or posting some message later this afternoon, you should do that now.

whew...
whelp we have entered the first phase of what we expect to be several pushes over the next 8 days.
concrete5.org is now running version 5.4 of concrete5.
All sorts of things in the corners are probably misbehaving right now, but we'll get that cleaned up tomorrow.
There's also a few features you may have noticed, some may make sense, some maybe not so much..
1) the home page has a new bit o sexy flash. Some of the veterans might remember an earlier version of it from a sister hosting site we used to run at getconcrete5.com. It does a good job of quickly getting across the idea of incontext editing, the flexibility of our framework, and a glimpse of the power under the hood - all while building excitement with a fatty techno beat. ;)
2) There's Mark Thread as Helpful and Mark Comment as Answer now. These work, but they aren't used a whole lot in the interface yet. You may have also noticed that there are tags on new posts (but not replies). All of this is to power our sexy new help system so we dont end up with the mess of guestbook comments we have today. I could explain in excruciating detail because there actually is a master plan on this one, but frankly I should probably be making a bug list and drinking this scotch .. so.. meh. enjoy the surprise.
3) Search is better. Its only as good as the content its pointing at obviously, but the framework is there to present more targeted content from a wider range of the site through a single interface.
4) The avatar picker has changed. This is all due to the love of Elyon who is quickly defining himself as concrete5's leading Flash master. He's a rockstar and we're very impressed with his approach to that horrid horrid language. ;)
5) There's more stuff in your profile. Right now we're not displaying these attributes anywhere, but we plan to - so if you wanna take some time to fill out your location and services expertise - it'll be good for your business (hint hint)
Look at that, I actually made a list of five without faking it!

Hi Franz, looking forward to after SXSW to see the results! I suppose you guys will be doing some kind of a livecast? Like macrumors does of the apple events?
Can I ask you guys to add 5.4 to the marketplace backend? I've seen packages that say 5.4 only and there's no 5.4 in the options. I'd also like to add 5.4 only versions of my packages.
Cheers! And good luck! 5.4 is great!

Looking forward to 5.4 goodness :)
