I have myself made this particular mistake, and other people as well. You can send a private message via the forum to someone, although that person won't have any way of replying to you if you have missed to explicitly enable the "allow others to mail me" setting.

Could the forum here at c5.org perhaps be configured to disallow sending messages unless they are "repliable", with a nice little note explaining why this is a Good Idea(tm)?
