Freelancers, how much do you charge for a C5 site?

Hi,
I am an SEO freelancer from Malaysia & not long ago i had a go with C5 after playing much with Wordpress & Joomla and guess what, I love C5 now above the rest.

i have just completed 2 sites recently for some friends and charged them peanuts for their websites. you can have a look here - www dot samsonomnitech dot com dot my & www dot sarakool dot com (both are construction companies)

After those experiences, I have thought of including c5 site development as part of my new service soon, but i am in doubt of how much to charge for this. this is because i have not come across any Malaysian freelancers who is into C5. (WP & Joomla is still very popular in Malaysia)

my question is to ya'll freelancers here, how much do you actually charge your clients for a c5 powered website?

any feedback welcomed. cheers.

Hey,

Welcome to C5 and I'm on exactly the same page as you. I love C5 as it is sooooo easy to use for developers and clients :)

I'm a freelance graphic and web designer in my own time and also have a day job of being a web designer and my normal average hourly rate is £25 an hour.

I don't charge for installing C5 or implementing a template for the platform but only for the general design and development side of things.

For me it all depends on what the client wants and how long it will roughly take to build the template. That's all i charge for really if I'm honest.

Hi chris,
thanks for the prompt reply. it was very generous of you not to charge your clients by setting up & doing installation for them :)

since you only charge your clients for template design, does that fall into the £25 p/hour rate that you are suggesting at the moment?

Do you charge extra, more from the normal rate for design complexities while executing the task?

Cheers mate.

The other you thing you might look into is rebranding the system. Under the license c5 uses you can do this without being sued.

I know some of my friends charge a package rate.

Personally I would charge for setup and first time configuration as clients with no computer experience what so ever, so for them they dont know what FTP means.

It all depends....

Hi

I would work on hourly rate for anything c5,html,css etc. So you should use the following

1. work out how much you need to live on in a year
2. divide by 50 weeks (2 weeks for hols)
3. divide by 37 for the hours
4. now multiply by 2 as you only be working half the year as a freelancer. That a worse case scenario but helps you sleep at night :)

Its probably the same rate as a plumber!!

eg
40000
/ 50 = 800
/ 37 = 21.62
x 2 = 43.24 hourly rate

Hi silko
My hourly rate is $20 . And for a basic c5 integration i think 5 hours is enough. Here plumbers get less than $12 for a day.
