Google Analytics vs C5 Dashboard stats

I'm wondering why the stats on Google Analytics and my C5 Dashboard are so different.

The C5 stats show a LOT more traffic than the Google Analytics for the same site. (Like 20 vs 100 visits)

Am I reading it wrong, or is this normal, and if so, why?

And it's like this for all 5 C5 sites I have, where the traffic count is very different.

you're referring to the default stats package that comes with concrete right, not the stats package?

i think two things are happening there:

1) the default stats records every page hit, and doesn't exclude traffic from robots (which can be a significant amount of traffic), and

2) the default stats doesn't use javascript as analytics does, so that means that if someone has javascript turned off or if the page doesn't fully load, then their hit won't be recorded.

3) it's also possible that some people have locally cached versions of your pages, so they are calling the analytics javascript, but aren't requesting a new pageload.

Yes, I'm referring to the free stats that come on the C5 dashboard.

Well the thing is that the C5 stats are the ones that are way higher than the Google Analytics stats.

Anyone else seeing the same kind of thing?

oh yeah, point number three would make analytics higher, points 1 and 2 would make the default stats higher, so it's probably those two.

as frz told me in answer to my question in another thread, the default chart also shows page visits in edit mode, dashboard, filemanager ... so you yourself are adding visits to the chart
