Help speed up my site, please

Hello all,

I've been running a C5 site for about month now and hit every possible way to speed it up with little impact.

The site is:
hpd-fff.com

It's host on a shared DreamHost site, no limits besides hardware and the standard shared throttle.

I've moded the htaccess (several times, with several lines) and cache settings. That's about all I know.

I'm just looking some direct advice. I've read all the articles but cannot tell which will work for me, or really what my problem is. I hoping some of you expert (thank goodness for you folks...) might be able to point some direct "do this" to help me get this thing loading in under 5 seconds (right now it can go as high as 25). One add-ons support groups says my JS loading wrong, but I wouldn't even know where to look to confirm that.

I'm more than happy to be a skill test if one of you experts wants to prove your skills.

Thanks in advance!

Hey there,

sorry to tell you, but your site loads in under 5 seconds time :)

With being it 4.927 seconds, it is tight, yes :-)

But from what this benchmark tells you, you are doing pretty much good besides one point - "Time to first byte", which is maybe the only thing you cannot change by software.

Of your 4.927sec "Lag", 3.6 sec are sacrificed to TTFB. Maybe you can ask DreamHost about this...

Thanks... It's even faster now!

What I did (How to make C5 fast as noob):
1. htaccess - Not to difficult, ramp it up with things you find on other forum postings on the C5 site.
2. Cache - mess with it, leave it for a while, mess with it.. repeat until happy. Best to cache as mush as possible without go so far as break the cache and lock it up.
3. Mention the slowness to your host - If your lucky (I am), they move you to an awesome serve that makes the site load in < 4 seconds, pretty much all the time. What up.
4. DB optimization add-on - Maybe it did something? Seems like it.
