Help with eCommerce - Shopping Cart - forcing customers to sign in

Hello - any help much appreciated.
For some reason when a customer tries to buy something from my website the shopping cart asks them to sign-in or register in order to purchase. This is crazy as I am losing sales.
The 'Order settings' are correct and I have no 'forced' sign in on any of my product profiles.
Can anyone help?
