I need some help

Hi,
I'm brand new to concrete5 and am missing a total concept. I downloaded C5, registered it and have a host site ready for whatever I may come up with as far as the web design is concerned. Next I downloaded two themes to the site. I have used Adobe GoLive for a few years but this is my first try of this type of CMS software. When I open C5 I am expecting to see one or the other theme I downloaded and then I would edit it inserting text and pictures.....Am I thinking correct? Where has my thinking gone wrong? Can anyone help me? Thanks, John

Hello and thanks for the speedy reply. I am retired and work in a hospital Monday mornings and could not get back sooner. I thought about the problem yesterday and today and I think I made some progress. 1. I got a fresh download from concrete5.org, then I uninstalled the Simple Script from my Hostmonster cpanel and reinstalled that. The reinstall came with 4 Themes... Plain Yogurt, Green Salad Theme, Dark Chocolate, and Greek Yogurt. Then when I was looking around I saw 2 Free Projects that I downloaded yesterday and are still here. Question....Is a Theme and a Project the same thing? Next I went to Plain Yogurt and activated that Theme only. Next I am using the Login URL: to sign on.....before I was going to Concrete5.org to log on. I think that was wrong. Now when I log in on the website I see a page that starts "ss_site_title" Welcome to Concrete 5 - an open source CMS. It's a page with only text and a few links. Am I supposed to be there or should I see Plain Yogurt Theme ready to edit?????? I hope that I am explaining myself better today. Again, thanks for the help. John Carcano

Themes define only the way that your oncrete5-based site is displayed. The whole idea is that you create pages, add content, different blocks and so on, and they are displayed "in the theme's skin"... so you can change themes, and content will be still the same (maybe not always, but this is how it should work).
What you are asking is total basics - You have to login to your site, and go to the main page. There you should see Edit (left-top corner), click on this and the gate to concrete5 possibilities is open! :) You can find there areas, that are clickable: you can add something there, you can edit existing content and so on.
The best way is to install c5 with some deafult data - (when installing, you can choose if you want clean installation or with that data. When you have that data in your installation, you can go to edit mode on every page, change what there is, add new thigs, even change themes (and see how it works) and so on - this is great way to learn.
Takea look on those videos, they should help you:

(it is about concrete5 v. 5.4, but basics are the same)

Hi John, You should check out these Getting Started videos and resources:
http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/getting-started/...
The stuff in the design section will help you understand how themes work, how to switch themes, and how to make very basic design changes to the theme.
Basic editing is covered in the very first video--it should clear things up for you.

I read what you wrote a few times and it confused me a little bit.
I am assuming you already have concrete5 installed on the host, right?
Could you re-phrase what you wrote also ;)
