Image Gallery
Permalink
Hi everyone,
I'm very new to Concrete5 and have nearly finished creating my first website using it but i'm struggling to create an image gallery and can't find a straight answer, does the latest version have a built in image gallery function or do I need to get one from the market place?
I initially thought that I would add the images to a file set and then somehow I'd be able to add the fileset as a block, but it seems not.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please? I did try the 'thumb gallery' add on by Vivid but this just returned a 'An error occurred while downloading this package.' so I guess this doesn't work anymore.
Any help would be appriciated, thanks.

Thanks for your reply Steevb, your add on looks good and would be perfect for what I need it for but I'd like to see if there is a free way to do it within the concrete platform.
Of course there is, build your own.
Check out my Wall Gallery Suite package!
https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/wall-gallery-suite1/...
It has 3 gallery blocks in one package! All 3 allow you to choose a file set, then you can custom arrange them as you see fit. All 3 are fully responsive, too!

Thanks for the link, looks great!
The built in one works good, but when I need to build custom slide objects (which is almost every day) I use Cycle2 Slideshow:
http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle2/...
Ofcourse I use it in a concrete5 block. So like Steevb said, I build them for the sites I'm working on.
I often customize each one per website, so I have a bunch of different cycle2 slideshow blocks but each tailored for a specific site.
I've attached the last one I happened to build, includes image, caption and pager.
I'm using someone elses block as a starter for this file, so until I build my own dynamic items block starter, I've been using the one provided by MichaelG here for some time:https://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/5-7-discussion/sharing-my...
So attached is the last cycle2 block I built starting from MichaelG's dynamic items starter template. Note that since it started from the original dynamics_item template, there is some left over stuff that might not be being utilized in this slideshow instance.
Enjoy! And if you need anymore help feel free to ask!

Thanks for taking the time to reply in such depth, looks like I've got some reading to do, thanks again!
Thank you for the links, will take a look at them both.
Careful. The two add-ons suggested by theneptune are for the old version of concrete5 so they won't work in 5.7.
Thanks for letting me know Mhawke, that would explain why they haven't shown up in my site.
