incredibly slow loading

I just used concrete5 to redesign a website I maintain for a small nonprofit. I love the layout and ease of use, but it can take anywhere from 20-60 seconds to load the site or navigate to another page within the site --http://lllvawv.org.

I do use an inexpensive GoDaddy hosting account, so I assume that's a factor. The speed was fine with our old html/css only site.

Is there anything I can do to decrease the loading times? Or is it hopeless to try to use concrete5 unless I get a more expensive hosting account?

I had some sites on Dreamhost but the db is not localhost, so I assume a separate machine. And the speed went right down into the 40 second range with any traffic at all.

Now moving my c5 sites back to inmotionhosting which is giving me great results.

Slow loading times are all too often associated with your host. Several godaddy users have complained of similar issues.

I use a host called Hostpapa. They offer "green" hosting via REC's. Check em out here:http://billing.hostpapa.com/cgi-bin/ua-hp-com/clickthru.cgi?id=riot...

You also mentioned how your CSS/HTML templates were faster. By using any CMS, you increase the functionality of a site; thereby, loading times also increase.

Lastly, a couple of C5 add on developers recently released add ons to make things go faster (google CDN add on and xyclides utilities, sp). Hope this helps.

PS- my site uses Hostpapa if you wanna check out host speed with Concrete5:http://adamjohnsondesign.com .

godaddy budget hosting is always going to be slow, even if you tweak concrete5 out with some performance add-ons..

The difference between just serving html/css and having to also use PHP and MySQL is just huge.
