Is c5 ready for China PRC?
Hi all,
My company recently relocated me to China (actually, been notified last Wednesday, and I am now there :/), but this is something I have been wondering for some time …
I think c5 can have a very big market there, but I just can't see any work done anywhere to make it Chinese ready, is there any Chinese community ?
For instance, Google is banned in China from some time on, so c5 is running awfully slow (because it is based on google fonts for the most of it), etc…
I am willing to work in that direction, and actually, I may even give it a big kick in in the next months, but am I alone here, or is there anybody interested?
(BTW, Can't really disclose the city I am here in, but it has a nice Sw community, and I feel like promoting c5 here as well, hopefuly something good will happen).

Welcome to Asia! I don't know any Chinese users personally, but there are many translators in concrete5 project on transifex.

Thanks,
actually, Asia had been my second home for the last 10years or so, business tripping back and forth so much that I had to wonder where I was really "based" … :)
I saw some of these translations, but I didn't see much real examples of Chinese ( .cn / .cn.com) done with c5 yet (hopefuly, I can change that in the future :) ). And really, I did not see any Chinese community for concrete5 (will change that too :) )

If you need some multibyte support help, we, Japan community, have experienced a lot for Japanese language. (and closer).
So if there is any big potential in China, you've got our back.

A Japanese backing a Chinese community, now that is something you don't see often :D
Well, thanks for the help, next time I drop by Japan, I'll drop a message :)
As for the potential, yes there is quite a potential in here, but the problem is censorship (Google is banned, and we are poorly ranked in major search on baidu.cn …), and the fact that most Chinese well … speak only Chinese … so reading docs in English is not their forte …
I can fix at least the latter by translating some docs over the time, but the baidu ranking gonna need some work …

Even though I normally try to directly provided fonts, with this project I had used Google fonts. I've been able swap that out for a Chinese mirror (fonts.useso.com), so major headache avoided.
So thanks for that point!
