Just curious... Why "Concrete5" for a name?

I figured "Chit-Chat" was the place for this kind of question.
So when the owners were starting up, why did you choose that name? Must be an interesting story behind this!

Franz probably never gets too tired to answer that question. But it's a good thing if it raises someone's interest in my opinion. :)

First of all, the reason behind the number 5.

It's because "concrete CMS" used to be proprietary software that was developed in the early 2000's. They did 4 versions of that proprietary software that was completely under their control.

Then they decided to do a complete rewrite for the software and release it under an open source license in 2008. This became concrete5 as we know it today.

The name "concrete" comes also from Franz (like many of the things you see in the software) who thought you can build anything with concrete and therefore it would be a great name for the system.

There's also a point that the work "concrete5" spells out nicely as you have the letter "c" on mirrored on both sides of the word (if you take only the lower part of the number 5). I'm not sure if that is coincidence or by design. I would think there is thinking behind that since they decided to write it with a lower starting letter (which annoys me every time I need to start a sentence with the word :).
