yeah, i've run into this before on hybrid projects. it's irritating.

Flash content generally sits on top of any regular content regardless of z-index. In order to stop this behavior you need to change the wmode parameter in flash to opaque or transparent.

You may need to make a custom template and/or replace the vimeo player view.php file in packages-->vimeo-->blocks-->vimeo with the attached file (rename the extension to php).

Make sure that you back up your original file just in case.

I'm not sure if it'll work because the vimeo embed code is a little wacky. If that doesn't work try popping the wmode modification directly into the object tag instead of being a parameter.

I usually insert flash content using swfobject so it's been a long while since I've modified object/embed tags. I've also not inserted vimeo content yet. I'll sign up for an account later and see if the fix works.

P.S. I've also corrected a typo in the original view.php by spelling the videoHeight round echo correctly.

If you ftp into your root directory, you'll see a folder called packages. start from there. ;)

I'd try setting both of your players wmod to opaque and set your z-index in your css of your personal flash div to be higher than the vimeo player div.

I figured out my problem. Apparently, when layering multiple FLASH elements in an HTML document the layer position of the FLASH elements with regard to each other is determined by the order it appears in the HTML code–meaning, whatever FLASH element appears last will appear in the topmost layer. For my problem, just switched the occurrence of my buttons with the vimeo video and, voila, SOLVED. Again thanks Argie for your help, I hope this helps others better understand layering FLASH.

I have a similar problem where the zoomed image slips in underneath the top nav but only in FF and Safari on windows and mac. IE7 is ok. I changed the nav z-index in view.css to 0 which fixes it but then the drop down gets hidden behind the slideshow so z-index has to be higher than 0. Is there a fix by changing something in view.php for zoom image?

1) Even though IE7 is working, it's probably not working in a way that's going to deploy well along with FF and Safari. IE 7 and it's previous incarnations have a bug that misinterprets the z-index order:

IE creates it's own nested z-indexed elements starting at zero for relative positioned elements. :(

My advice is to get it working in FF and Safari and then roll out the "hack" for IE which is to explicitly state the z-index and position properties (or don't position them at all) for the elements containing parent(s).

2) Drop downs - this problem is probably made worse when combined with the drop down effects that roll out more z-index layers.

so, try positioning your zoomed content using position:relative on its' parent to create a new z-index order for IE and make it high enough so it will cover the drop down (if this is what you want to do).
