May I clean my site

Hello
Since the 5.5.2 update I found my sites, in admin mode quite slow (but OK in normal mode).
I considere to 'clean' a lot all my sites.
1/ Is there any doc or tuto about it.
2/ If not may I delete, as my sites are in 5.5.2.1, all the /update/Concrete<previous versions> ?
