My C5 Feedback & Thoughts?

I don't want to start an argument but...

Part one:

I tried to reply to an earlier post on feedback. It seems to be closed.
I am new to this CMS stuff (and two days into C5). I have tried the pre-installed things in cpanel. Spent time with all those famous 'freebee's' and 'paid for' demos.

C5 is the dog's b******* at the moment.

I would gladly pay for this.

The amount of work I turned away because I didn't believe in a CMS product has cost plenty and looking at their (lost clients) sites (just checking, of course) there not great.

I will pay for the cart plugin. I will pay for themes or anything else, If I think it warrants it!

Themes I can do myself (basic) and have learnt how to convert an existing site (thanks to Andrews screencast and Brians page).

Now I feel I can help clients properly with a CMS that works!!

There is no such thing as a 'free lunch', as my nan would say.

You get what you pay for? (some are not worth it)
Look before you leap? (check it out first)

I've been caught a few times with things that are not what they seem!

Sound disjointed? sorry my brain is trying to wrk faster than I can tipe.

Part two:

I need help in as much that my test site does not validate? How deep can I go to change things without mucking up the core?

1. The form is tabled and the text labels alignment is wrong, if I align it through dashboard the the whole thing moves?

When I view the source, I can see what needs to be done, but not sure where to go to change it!

Actually I can see all the problems I need to resolve, where do I go to fix them?

3. The pages are slow to load? I know speed depends on many things, but on the whole it seems a bit slow?

So is it normal?

Anyway that's it for now.

If, no sorry when I get my head round all this f*** monster I will help, contribute, moan, thank and maybe send christmas cards to you.

I'm guessing a dog's b***** is good. Or at least hoping.

Anyrate, thanks!

To any other readers, let's not start up the "should add-ons cost money" discussion again - we're going to continue to try making money with the marketplace and hosting. If that doesn't work, we'll do something else. concrete5 doesn't have to be for everyone, it clearly has excited a great many people.

that being said, please don't be afraid of our testimonials page:
http://concrete5.org/about/testimonials...

regarding your thoughts on customizing the view behavior of blocks, have you learned about custom templates yet? If you're willing to do a little HTML/CSS work that might be what you need.

thanks again for the passionate speech - I dig-it.

I think it's dogs biscuit. Anyway I'd like to see a test site where "joe user" (i.e. me) can login and play with the per pay modules and plugins to see if they'll work in my situation.

The videos are good but I'd like a little hands on stuff.

No Im off to buy the ecommerce module.

I found where to align the text for my forms. In controller.php and I think it is line 586?

changed 'valign' to 'align' and 'top' to 'right'.

sorted!

off to play some more now
