New gallery that supports Thumbnail Types
Permalink
This weekend I hacked together a new package that makes use of Thumbnail Types because I had trouble finding one in the marketplace. Most packages use the (deprecated) getThumbnail method which often results in timeouts and cache problems.
The Thumbnail Type Gallery circumvents those problems and presents a nice and clean gallery in combination with file sets.
It is version 8+ compatible so go check it out in the marketplace:https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/thumbnail-type-gallery/...

Looks good. I can use this for a few clients that might need a thumbnail gallery.
We've also added pagination. This is a unique feature and makes it useful for large file sets / galleries.
You had trouble finding one in the marketplace? I'm disappointed you didn't notice Touch Gallery :\
It does use thumbnail types OR legacy thumbnails whatever the user prefers. Legacy thumbnailer is still probably a bit better for small galleries because it doesn't fill up the server the way thumbnail types do (at least until 8.4)
Obviously, Thumbnail types are a no-brainer for large galleries.
