Newbie- how do I start my first web page

Hello, sorry for such a a basic question. I am familiar with html, and all kinds of web programing languages (www.pumpfundamantals.com) but I would like to experiment with this new type of editor.

I have installed concrete5 with the 1-click installer provided by my ISP Dreamhost. All the files seems to be there. Now I need to create my fist page, how?

In your documentation you have: Editing, add page, etc. but not how to get on first base.

Thanks for any help,

Cheers,

Jacques

You will need to Log into your site, normally at the bottom of the page, there is a Sign in to Edit link (should be on the default theme)

Once logged in the Edit Page/ Add Page will appear as a bar across the top of the page.

The Direct url should be,

http://siteurl.com/index.php/login/...

enter Your Name and Password, hit "Sign In >"

I just re-read your post, and thinking you may still be in the dashboard?

if so, Click Sitemap, should be on the left at the top, then Left Click Home, you should get a menu pop up, near the bottom of the menu should be an add page option.

Im not to sure if these will work I have never used a one click install? normally when you install C5 using the installation(default method) you get a basic site installed automatically.

Hope some of this helps anyway

Glad to hear it :)

Welcome to C5, its very nice CMS, once you get to grips with it.

Although it does have a tendancy to confuse our clients the first time we show them it just so much can be done via that "left click"

just slightly off topic,

ISP = Internet Service Provider
eg: Cablevision, Verizon, Comcast, Road Runner,

Dreamhost, Hostgator = Webhost

just kind of annoys me ;)
