Origins & Vision

With the new year rolling, I just put this video together with some thoughts about where we're coming from and heading to.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

This is great. Thank you frz!
Funny to watch this video (especially your life story). You actually described the history of me! I am very positive about the things you say and I want to express my support in any way to the tasks at hand.
We at concrete5 in Denmark have actually used a ton of time to break the (Strange form of religious approach from developers' use of other CMS systems - I will not name names). Last year we decided to make a push regarding advertising concrete5 here in Denmark (and maybe Sweden). But I held back when I first heard of the name change from concrete5 to Concrete CMS.
So before I jump in and decide to spend the money on marketing I would greatly appreciate hearing what your thoughts are in the future with people like us (Concrete CMS in Denmark). You are welcome to contact me directly via email.
But make no mistake! I am extremely positive about the information we have already heard over the last month. So let us know how we can help on the journey ahead!
Best!

I will send you a DM, but to anyone else reading and thinking internationally...
We need to do a much better job collaborating.
In the past we took a very distributed approach where little to no involvement or support from the core team was offered to our international partners. Whoever registered the local domain first basically could do what they wanted on their own. This made room for some fantastic local communities to develop in some places, but it also decentralized our comparatively small audience. We really need to focus on making Concrete CMS appealing to mid and large sized organizations with a complex web presence that has a team of people collaborating, and that will require a more structured approach to managing the international community.
Our goals by centralizing this more:
* Joining the Concrete community means you’re part of one large network. Certainly being a leader in local national efforts like support and translation is important and those contributions should be rewarded and officially recognized, but we should be running one large user base - not many small ones.
* Work should not be duplicated needlessly. There are some things that clearly will require work with each new locality we add (translation, language specific support) but as much as possible we should build once/share to all anything that can be approached this way (forums, extensions, tooling.)
* Local business should be handled locally. Beyond the practical challenges around language and timezone, the reality is most organizations want to work with a vendor in their own country. They bring valuable cultural awareness and comfort to relationships that will require trust and collaboration.

@frz FYI I think some domain names have been grabbed and nobody can do anything about it.
For instance, concrete5.fr and concretecms.fr which used to host the French community are still owned by someone but the websites are long gone. So nobody can use those. I wonder how many others are in that situation.

concrete-cms.fr
My UK domain/hosting provider (Krystal) wiil not give me a result for Denmark: concrete-cms.dk

Making software that helps other people has always the vibe I got from from the C5 community. Glad you are taking that vibe and turning it into a clear vision. Giving community members and employees the ability to invest in the company sounds like a neat idea.
Concrete CMS gave a so so web designer ( that would be me ) the ability to complete with the large full service Drupal and Wordpress agencies of the world. Stewart Design Agency complete the application process to be a State of Maryland and Federal sub contractor. We are going to be pitching Concrete CMS when bidding on IT projects.
