Please test this... It takes 30 seconds

I've made a new c5 addon that is currently awaiting approval in the marketplace. But by its very nature it's hard to test - it is a redirection tool based on the visitor's country/region. The ip conversion is based on wipmania.com and seems to work fine for me.

The simple request is for you to click 2 links below and report which page you ended at and which country you are located (at the moment). Pretty easy?

Javascript method (redirects AFTER page load):
http://c5extras.com/add-ons/country-redirect/redirect-example/...

PHP method (redirects BEFORE page load):
http://demo.c5extras.com/index.php?cID=231...

If you are located in North America, you'll be redirected to concrete5.org.
If you are located in Europe, you'll be redirected to c5extras.com.
All other visitors will be redirected to the c5extras Twitter page.

Thanks for your help.

Both to twitter, also in the UK

The Javascript method sent me to concrete5.org, as expected. The PHP method sent me to Twitter. I'm in the US.

Both went to Twitter... I'm in Canada (which, last I checked, was in North America so I should have ended up at Concrete5.org, no? LOL!). PHP method was definitely nicer, as you didn't get the flash of the C5extras site before the JS re-directed.

Cheers!

Ok thanks guys. The ip lookup method is exactly the same so there must be some type of caching going on. Let me do a few tweaks before you test more. Thanks :-)

Ok, I've made some adjustments and I'm pretty sure it's working fine now.

But can a couple folks please test it out and let me know if it's redirecting where it's supposed to be?

Poland here - now it's working - c5extras.com twice. :)

Both to twitter still.

Javascript paused on c5extras for a sec and then directed to twitter. UK.

Can you please try it in an "incognito" window in Chrome, just in case the content of the page (and redirection) has been cached on your browser?

Yup. I thought it may have been a cache issue (was using Safari).. so then tried in ff for the 2nd attempt with the same results.

Just tried Chrome with the same results. Javascript pauses on c5extras for a second and then redirects to twitter.

When it pauses on c5extras, I get an error message, it was too fast to copy and paste so I took a screenshot. (Attached)

Thanks for your feedback Wagdi. That is very strange as I had a made a couple tweaks just before and just after your message. So you may have just hit the page at the wrong time as I was uploading something. Do you mind trying just 1 more time. Everyone else (see below) seems to be getting the right results now. Thanks heaps. :-)

Tested again and I'm redirected to c5extras on both. Based in Sweden so it's as designed.

Canada Here... Twitter for both.

Thanks, can you please try the same as I suggested for Wagdi just in case it's a browser caching issue?

Sorry, I just realised Canada wasn't included in the "North America" group - my mistake. I've fixed that, please try again.

LOL! No problem... lots of people seem to forget that Canada is actually part of North America! ;D

Re-tested... and got directed to concrete5.org for both. WORKING!

Can you please try the Javascript method again. I've tested it and it's working ok. Did you see anything on the page at all?

No, I wasn't seeing anything.
I did figure out what the problem was though. I had my computer set to use google's dns and I couldn't even resolve internal pages on your site. So I switched it to opendns and everything works as it should now.

I am located in North America (US).

I was redirected in the described way for both, and then to the correct website (http://www.concrete5.org/).

I tested this in the most current versions of the following browsers:
Chrome
Firefox
IE9
Safari

Thanks!
