Problems Installing A Custom Theme

Permalink 3 users found helpful
Hey Everyone!
I just had a little issue and it confused me, so I thought I'd let everyone know if they had a similar problem.

I installed concrete5 (v5.3.3) from Simple Scripts on Bluehost into a subdirectory named "whitehat" and then created a theme called "whitehat". I uploaded it to the themes directory, but when I tried to install the theme in the dashboard, the install failed. No error, no messages, just the screen reloaded with the install button on the theme instead of the activation, etc buttons...

The problem was with the c5 directory and the theme name being the same. I'm not sure what was wrong under the hood, but when I changed my theme directory name to whitehat_v1, it installed with no problems.

Just thought I'd let everyone know. If this has been covered elsewhere, my bad, I couldn't find anything about it on the forums.

Take care!

This word may be on the restricted word list but I doubt it. I am gonna check mine.

Thanks for letting us know.

THANK YOU for sharing this info. I was having the same problem and simple changing the name of the custom theme folder solved it. Thank you again! Saved me hours of work and effort.
