Purpose of "Delete Unused Form" link in reports

I can't figure out why this link sometimes appears next to a form in the dashboard reports panel - and what happens if you click it? It deleted the form from the page, or does it just delete the results?
I think it appears when the form the report was linked to is removed. So this link just removes the report from the dashboard.
Thats what I was thinking, but I didn't remove the form. I did however modify one of the fields within the form - perhaps its a bug?
