Question about money

I am trying out Concrete5 and was just wondering if it is possible to design my web site without having to pay for add-ons. Are there any free add-ons?

Thanks

Right out of the box without adding any addons you can put together a pretty nice web site. Also I believe about half of the addons in the marketplace are free. It's really just up to the developer if they want to charge for the addon that they built or not.

Thanks. So it is something like the Rapidweaver (Mac software) community I am already part of. Some of the addons are free and some you have to pay for.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Even though Concrete5 is free, I didn't want to have to keep paying out money to get more functionality.

My main challenge with the web site I want to create is organizing it all. I have several hundred MP3 files of my radio shows that I want to put on my web site. Just not sure how to organize it all. Any ideas?

Should I start a new post with this concern of mine?

Take care,

Randy

though, it would still be adding them one by one.

I think there is a nice "downloads" addon that would do the trick as well.

concrete5 comes with a bunch of free blocks that you don't even have to install (google map, youtube, pagelist, html, etc).

also check out the document library block in the marketplace. it costs a bit, but would be a good way to list a whole bunch of downloadable mp3s.

I just watched the video and I know that that would solve a ton of problems for me because I could have all of my content (Radio playlists, Current and archival radio shows, musician interviews in one location for people to access. They could also filter based on artist so for example if they want to listen to Louis Armstrong, just search on his name.

Are you able to play a song (MP3) from the list? Only problem is that I can't afford $55.00 at the moment for this tool. I have been looking at some of the other free CMS's out there and I have to tell you that I get so frustrated with the complexity involved just to achieve something that you would think would be simple.

Is there another work around I can use instead of this plugin (for the moment)? This will solve the majority of my challenges for my web site!

If you look at my current site you can see where I am trying to go when it comes to creating my new site.

Thanks for your help!! I really hope that I will be able to use Concrete5 for my needs with minimal code involved.

Take care,

Randy

look into the /concrete/models/file_list.php file. That should contain most of the functions you need if you want to code up your own solution.
