Registration emails always going to spam/junk folder

I have a site where the registration emails are supposed to come to me but they always landing in my spam/junk folder despite the fact that I keep telling Gmail that they are not spam/junk. Does anyone know if there is a setting in the site.php that will help prevent this from occurring or an expert on mail servers who can tell me what to look for in my email server setup.
