Just looking through the automatic sitemap.xml that results from running the maintenance task, there is a URL in there to site.com/download_file

I browsed to it and it just has the text 'Invalid file' on it.

Maybe it shouldn't be in the sitemap - just a heads up if you don't know about it already.

Is there a fix for this? Or a way to remove it other than manually?

seems that it needs to be excluded in the indexing process.. looking into it. thx for posting this,.. narrows it down on where things went wrong

You don't want to delete this file. I agree that it should be excluded from search results and from any XML sitemaps, however. We can make that happen in the next version of concrete5.
