Search block not working as it should

Guys,
The Search block in 5.8 doesn't appear to allow you to restrict a search to just the page the block is on and under.
The docs say:
Search Within Path - This lets you limit your search results. Everywhere will search pages from across your whole site. Beneath this page limits the results to only this part of the site tree and below, while Beneath another page lets you pick which area of the site to search by hand.
which appears to say 'Beneath this page' does just that but it doesn't work..it only looks under the page the block is on and not on it.
Does anybody know a way around this please i.e. to get the search block to look at the page it's on?

No. I posted it to the Github stream too and no response there either. I've managed to persuade my customer a full site search is a much better idea!
