Searching for a solution - documentation/procedures/policies etc

I am working on a intranet website, and we are converting procedures, policies, documentation, etc into the C5 format. I'm finding that since we have so many documents (in word format, of course), many of which contain images, that it is probably going to take several months of effort with a team of people working to convert them.

I'm wondering if anyone has found a way around this. The requirement is that the documentation is searchable from C5, so it cannot be uploaded to the file manager or stored anywhere as an external link. Other than that I'm open to any thoughts.

Anyone have any?

There's some tools out there that will let you scan word docs for
content. You can set these up with the event handler on the file
manager to bring a summary of copy into the description field for
searching. That makes the doc library pretty powerful.

Really? That's pretty amazing, I haven't seen anything like that. Can you point me in that direction? Sounds almost perfect.

In the same process, this would be really great. Is this possible in the document library add-on only?
