Serious user account errors in C5
Permalink
Hi all,
I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot this problem. I've got C5.4 running on a site hosted by Network Solutions. The site has always been plagued by very slow performance, but I've also had intermittent problems with editing pages (blank pages returned, blank ccm dialog boxes returned, error messages returned).
The more serious issue is that I'm having problems doing anything after logging in. After I log in and navigate to a page or two, I'm logged off without notice (this is the super user admin account). I've tried creating standard user accounts and I can't even log in with those.
I've tried repairing & optimizing tables using phpMyAdmin to no avail. The update to 5.4.0 had no effect.
Network Solutions tech support has been of no help.
A reverse-IP lookup on the site reveals that my client's site is sharing a server with 5800 other sites, so the slow-as-molasses performance is probably due to that, but I can't figure out the editing/logging in problems.
What should I try next? Switching hosts or upgrading to dedicating hosting isn't going to be an option for a while.
Thanks for reading.

conversely you can host with us for as little as $95/year - so I guess this really is one of those "takes just a little more to get a lot" situations.
