Shopping Mall Type Site
Permalink
Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience of using the Ecomm add on as a Shopping Mall? Could it be done? I want to be able to offer many shops a way to sell on a C5 site and give them access to login and edit their own product base (without access to anyone else's!) but to have a single checkout going through a single Paypal account.
I'm guessing that it could possibly be done with advanced permissions and assigning each product to a specific user. Could it be as simple as that?
I know it's probably not possible with the add on at the moment but does anyone know if it would be possible and, if so, is anyone willing to quote and take on the job? If so, let me know and I can get a more detailed brief together and post it in the Jobs forum.
Thanks in advance!

I've had some good experience working with ecommerce and advanced permissions and see no reason this couldn't be done!!
Thanks Enlil,
I've been thinking about this and the way I see it is af I can add a user_ID field (or similar identifier) to each of the products in the table and then tweek the Advanced Permissions so that when a shop owner logs in, they have access to the Ecomm module but the only products that show up are the ones where the user_ID field match the login credentials. Any new products that were added would also be assigned a user_ID based on the login credentials.
At this stage, there is no need for any of the shop owners to have access to any transaction details and so very little security is needed.
Anyone see any holes in this plan?
Cheers!
