Side-nav showing parent level too

I'd like to show the top level on a side navigation, and not just what's below a page. I'm using Auto-Nav block as a side navigation in a "Right Sidebar" type of page.

Technology
______|_____
service process

I have a technology page on the top level, and 2 pages under it. I want to side bar to show all 3 instead of just the 2 when in the technology area. Any ideas? Auto-nav shown all of a level, or under a page, but no including the top parent page. I've tried some clunky ways of having two blocks, but that doesn't seem elegant of easily maintainable. Thanks in advance.

It's hard to understand exactly what you're looking for but I would try this in the auto_nav dialogue box: Under the 'Display Pages' option choose either 'at the current level' or 'at the level above'. In the 'Sub Pages to Display' option choose 'Display all' and then again under the 'Sub Page Levels' choose 'Display all'.
If this doesn't work play around with the first option but leave the other two the same.
Maybe post a link so we can see what you're talking about.

Thanks for responding. The example I'm trying to achieve simply is here:

The side nav refers to both the parent page and the child pages. In order to do this, I used two blocks -- the top one was a hard-wired link to the parent ("Technology"), and the bottom block uses Auto-Nav. This method seems clunky as there should be a way to link them all using a single block without hardwiring -- but Auto-Nav doesn't have this (no way to capture "Technology" without capturing whole top level). And this seems like something sites would want to do for "sections" like i have with technology section.

Enclosed is site map. thanks,
