Size of C5 folder
Permalink
I am helping a friend setting up a C5 website. Just a simple portfolio. However, his webhost plan is max 75 mb disk space, and the c5 folder alone is 42mb. are there files/folders that can be removed to reduce the size of the C5 site?
I suspect that this is a free web host, but I'd agree 75mb is hardly enough to expect any robust site in. Especially if you're planning on doing any sort of file uploading or theme modifications.
Something you could try doing in a pinch would be to turn off all caching, then remove everything in /files/cache. But this would drastically impact site performance.
Also, keep in mind that any time you run an upgrade, it's going to bring down another copy of the /concrete/ folder essentially so you won't ever be able to upgrade with just 75 mb of disk. I think it's time to move up to a cheap hosting plan instead of a free one.

Thanks all. It is actually a paid webhosting, but here in Norway the companies overcharge by using fancy words and telling people how technical and difficult this is. I asked him to change hosting to someone that actually give you what you pay for.
75megs is just not enough breathing room for a concrete5 site in my opinon, I'd suggest at least a few hundred for a basic site. That's a really stingy webhost!
