Social network on C5 to rival Ning?

When Ning started charging I wasn't a heavy C5 user. Now that I need Ning again for a client I'm wondering if C5 could be a practical option. Has anyone cobbled together the add-ons to create a social network on C5? Need an easy way for parents to opt in to the site and post content.

The social networking filter for add-ons is only marginally useful. More related to links to social networks and not setting up a social network. Thanks for the other links. Will take a look.

Looking forward to it. In the meantime, maybe a new filter in the marketplace for Community add-ons. My other big wish list for the site would be the ability to save interesting add-ons for later reference. It could be good for developers to see how interesting their idea is and potentially give them an audience to communicate with about their hard work.

Since Concrete5 is at version 5.6 now, by "next version" are you referring to a Concrete6, or a version 5.7 of Concrete5?

I have a specific planned project that is my main reason for also being especially interested in and looking forward to this. Thank you!
