Speed issue on MediaTemple (gs)
I'm testing out concrete5 on a subdomain of my MediaTemple (gs) hosting and the site seems to be running very slow.

There's no noticeable performance problem with the WordPress installations that I have running under the same account. Are there any known issues using MT for concrete5 hosting?

I checked my server usage report and it highlighted the fact that favicon.ico was being requested but not found. I added a favicon to avoid the overhead of handling the 404 on every page load and the site seems to have sped up - I'm not totally convinced that it's not just coincidence though.
Is caching turned on in your dashboard site settings?
I put a c5 site on MT and it was horribly slow until I turned the caching on. After that it wasn't exactly zippy, but perfectly acceptable.

If you are on Clustor 02, you have a bad luck.
If you are on Clustor 01, it's ok.
If you are on Clustor 04, you get decent speed.

I haven't checked the speed on the rest of the Clustor since I don't have accounts on those...
But, I couldn't bare the slowness of (gs), and we had a budget, so I moved a couple sites to (dv).
Their speed is much better (though you need more server admin knowledge).
One of my examples on mt (dv) ishttp://www.jffla.org

I'm on Cluster 03 - seems to be OK with intermittent slowdowns
@kirkroberts - yes, caching is enabled.
Seems OK again for now.

Ah... now I see our site is on Cluster #4. Very interesting.
I've read a lot of complaints about MT's grid-server slowness with php/mysql but never saw *anything* about clusters or differences between them.
Thanks for the tip!

I recommended the MT (gs) to another client and they were put on Cluster #6. It is sometimes not terrible, sometimes painfully slow.
An MT tech said switching clusters isn't possible.
I'm suggesting to the client that we move the site to c5 hosting. And I'm done with the MT (gs).

We have been having a lot of problems lately on their grid-service for our sites on there. They do have good status updates and try to do something about it quickly but I do recommend going with their DV over grid.
