Store - eCommerce for 5.7 is now free

Permalink 4 users found helpful
We released Store about 3 weeks ago, and since then have been getting tons of feedback from the community that uses eCommerce add-ons regularly.

We beefed it up considerably and got a lot of it in shape. It's now available here in the marketplace at zero cost:https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/store-ecommerce-from-vi...

Quick feature list:
- product management
- product, product list, utility links (cart/login) block
- product detail pages
- Digital Downloads
- Authorize.net/Invoice Payment Methods
- Flexible tax options

Thanks for making this free!

But, why free? I'd be willing to spend a few bucks on this!

That's great to hear that you think it'd be worth buying. Appreciated.

However, any add-on we have in the marketplace is typically because it was needed/paid for by a client. So we're fortunate enough to not need the MP sales to make up that time invested.

There's also a need/demand for a working ecommerce platform in 5.7. I think a lot of people are trying to solve it, and I think it'd be potentially more advantageous for everyone to work on one together (thus why it's in Git).

Ideally, it also helps generate some more interest for veteran C5 developers in moving forward with 5.7. There's a pretty sour attitude in the forums that just kind of sucks. Along with that, is a "I can't use 5.7 unless it has X add-on". We think an ecommerce platform is a huge X in developers "need" list for 5.7 add-ons.

A commendable strategy. I agree it should be good for the uptake of 5.7.

thanks to vivid, -
it's a very good start to get 5.7 going.
we'll be the first one to pay for a "premium"-version.

blink.

Thanks - ideally the core of the Store package will be built so that there's not too much need for a Premium version, as much as there should be a good handful of premium add-ons. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on what a premium version or extensions would be useful to you.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that our Beanstream Gateway for Vivid's store was submitted this morning to the PRB for review.

We're very happy to be moving forward with the Vivid Store platform for 5.7 and already have another integration in the pipeline.

I've had some issues with this plugin and have asked a couple of times for some help. I am willing to pay the $$ for the service. I have a client that is using this and is 75% there, but there have been some issues. I found one solution on github, but still need some additional help if someone can reach out to me. Thanks.

Community Store forked from this a while back and is actively developed and mainatined, but not supported as a marketplace addon.

Hey - Johnthefish - thanks for the reply - I'm not sure what you are saying - are you saying that CC5 no longer supports this addon? Strange that it's still available as a download. Is there anyone out there that can help me de-bug some stuff? I'm not a programmer and we are having some issues -- particularly getting a product to "edit" once it's added to the store. Thanks.

Because it was forked, today it's two completely different projects and code bases.

https://github.com/VividWeb/vivid_store...
VS
https://github.com/concrete5-community-store...

The first (Vivid's Store) is in the Concrete5 marketplace, the 2nd (Community Store) is not. Community Store is, however, freely available and actively maintained on Github.
Community Store also has all the different modules for it-- it has a very extendable modular design
(so the above link is for all the available modules as well as the base store add-on itself
https://github.com/concrete5-community-store/community_store... )
