Testing and Purchasing Modules
Permalink
I been thinking about moving some of my sites to C5. However, I find the fact that I can not test drive or see some of the modules in action. (a video is nice, but not enough for me to make an informed decision).
For example which one of the blog or calendar or graphics modules should I use?.
So my questions are:
1) what are the policies for purchasing and testing modules?
2) If the module does not work for what I want, is there a refund and/or credit for purchase of another?
3) Once I find the ones I like.. Is there a discount price for multiple copies of modules for different sites?.
Since you do not have a site for testing modules, I was thinking in setting up one on my own to test before I make the decision to move other sites to C5.
Thanks for your answers.

I have a site athttp://performancec5.com/ that has a lot of blocks on it. Its not definitive but I had the same problem as you and made my own.
well, it is the developer's responsibility to make demosof their addons, i may make a site where developers can upload their packages after approved on the marketplace.
for the calendar addons, i made a little demo site for someone else, it has both installed,

Mike,
you should be able to find demos for most of the image galleries (although maybe not with CMS edit access). I've got some demos set up here:http://inneroptics.net/concrete5/... ...with edit access on most of those here:http://demo.inneroptics.net/
1. If you purchase an add-on, the developer is required to support it if you can't get it working.
2. You can request a refund if the add-on does not work.
3. Through the Marketplace, there are no discounts for multiple purchases yet. However, I recommend contacting the developer of the add-on to work out a discount as they are able to grant you licenses.
I would suggest applying for the Peer Review Board if you are interested in testing add-ons.

There will be a volume discount for individual add-ons that developers can price soon, but its for a specific add-on, not say "get 10% off on buying 3 of anything." It sounds like that's what you're asking for, but just wanted to be clear.
There should be demos for add-ons, there's a white paper in our how-to section that describes how to setup a server which resets itself every hour. We're guilty of not having demos for some of our add-ons too, but this is simply something that app developers should do.
No the refund policy (which is linked to from the marketplace landing page) is for things not working, not "try before you buy" for any number of reasons, not the least of which is enforcing proper license use is challenging.
There is a questions & discussion area for every add-on where you can ask the developer a question before you buy.

Just also wanted to say I would like to see a few more demos,
A concrete demo location, would be good, but I am happy visiting individual sites to get a feel for the add-on.
I am responsible for purchasing apps for my company and can not purchase unless I can see a demo which I can show my directors.
I have been looking at a few today that would appear to do what I need but I can not be sure unless I can test them out.
